4k or higher resolution textures in video games are a gimmick

This might be an unpopular topic or opinion but it still needs to be put out so people can be vary
As of recent games have become too big in size like 100-150GB and requiring atleast 4gig gpu is quite off the chart as we barely see any graphics improvement

there are many reasons behind it like the assets that are never used, long or many pages of shoddy codes but main reason is those high resolution uncompressed textures that might not see a difference at all even being set at 90% quality instead of 100%.

The other day my brother argued that bitmap is used because it is uncompressed but i have seen some games use PNG and look as good if not better.

The only reason i think of developer can go this route and affect having more potential customers is tie with hardware companies such as Intel, Nvidia, AMD so they can sell newer products such as CPU, GPU, RAM etc.

This is what great depression was all about, we won't go much further in it as it's not our today's topic but simpley in one line "keeping economy well maintained with regular jobs and employement."
Biggest proof for me that even 720p textures are good enough is looking at graphics in ps3 and xbox 360 emulators such as rpcs3 or xenia with some sorf of filtering such AA and AF both make the games look pretty neat

rpsc3 is not very stable on my pc as i get frequent crashes and graphics also look jaggy for certain objects so i deleted it as it's cell architecture is not in the great favour of proper emulation (atleast on my pc) and games were hard to make for it because of that reason
but now im using xenia which runs perfectly fine on my pc

not only the performance is significantly better but graphics look alot nicer too i have tried red dead redemption with extreme FXAA and AMD FSR and man those graphics it look pretty neat for a 2010 game

though performance wasn't the most ideal as i get consistent stutter but that is to be expected on relatively modest hardware of mine.

So in conclusion, we can say that it's an industry standard so they can newer products every generation in decent amount and make profits, nothing wrong with it. The pro is more people will get jobs but con not everyone can afford expensive hardware so gaming (especially on pc) will remain a luxury.

International Cricket 2010 with Xenia Emulator on PC

The game runs fine even with Extreme FXAA and AMD Fidelity FX Super Resolution turned, provides decent performance for an ageing gpu like mine.

Earlier in RPCS3 which i was using for more than 3 years and trying my luck with this game it would always crash and perform terrible.

So Xenia is definitely a better alternative for this or i should say any game that is available on both platforms (xbox 360 and ps3).

Playing the game in hard difficulty, though bowlers leaked lots of runs but with bat i was just supreme and so confident that i was able chase the target very easily.

Those 3 consecutive sixes in 3rd over, my man. I mean it was worth going for the last 4th one on the last ball as well but tried to be cautious to be safe.

GTA V Benchmark on 1050 ti, can we achieve stable 60fps with redux mod?

So playing the game at pretty much or almost (to be honest in this context) despite all the settings cranked up and even with 2x msaa the game actually run surprisingly smooth consider how beautiful it looks with this mod, bring a whole new life to the game completely. Being released 9 years ago on consoles (PS3 / XBOX 360) pc gamers had to wait almost 2 more years for it get their on the game who didn't own any of these two consoles.

Specs of my test system :
Intel Core i5 6600k
Zotac 1050 Ti Mini
Kingston Hyperx Fury Black 16GB (2x8) 2133mhz (xmp disabled)
Asus Z170-A Motherboard
120gb crucial BX500 SSD for OS (game installed on HDD)

1050 Ti in Late 2022? Is it still worth having one for any kind of gaming? Let's find out.

As my brother upgraded to a 3060 ti i got a 1050 ti from him, specifically zotac mini edition. It was my dream gpu back in the day when it launched in october 2016. For 5 years i had a 750 ti which of recent couldn't play games at playable framerates even at low settings. But my surprised me offering his 1050 ti and how pleasant it was.

It's amazing to see GPUs these ageing so well especially the lowend to midrange ones where else in the past it wasn't such an easy ride. The gpu OC's pretty decently as well but seeing a crash after 2hrs of long gameplay in uncharted i guess it's not that stable and event viewer confirmed this (nvidia driver crash).

So for the benchmarks i have put some decent well receipted games from this year (2022) and it totally proves that this gpu is still worth having if you're not a hardcore gamer and want everything maxed at 1080p, for that you need to go for much expensive options but for budget this does the job extremely well if you go second hand, this was also a used card my brother scored for only ₹5,500 (68$) 4 years also on local classifeds and ever since been completely fine.

My History with Computers (2003-Present)

I have a really interesting history in computers, my journey started when my sister got her first pc back in oct 2003, it came with windows xp preinstalled and featured a 1.7ghz celeron processor and 256mb ram which was quite reasonable for that era and i was only 8 at that time, we used to play some older games (mainly early 90s to late 90s) for 1-2hrs daily until after few months my sister decided she needed it for her studies and won't let us use it anymore and even put a password on her pc, i remember she was so silly that she had exactly the same password as hint and so that's how i got access to it again but only for a brief period and she was much more sensible after that. I still wish i could have much better experience at that time with PCs but we were so restricted to use it until i got my own first pc in 2007 which was pretty mediocre but reasonable for the price.

I used it for 3.5 years to play moderately demanding games. Then i got a Sandy Bridge based PC back in May 2011 with a 1080p monitor. But unfortunately, it had nvidia 8400gs gpu which was dismal for games so next year i got a HD 6850 and it a pleasure to play most games in high settings. But as time passed it started failing so i got 750 ti after 4 years of it's use. Being so power efficient i never had overheating issues with the latter and at the same time it was very powerful for gaming when i bought it. As games were getting more demanding and requiring more GPU horsepower to even run at low settings my brother gave me his old 1050 ti recently, i am not a hardcore gamer so the performance is satisfactory for me. I am currently running KabyLake i5 PC with 16GB RAM.
